Your G-Code program will be shown with syntax highlighting in the editor. With the code editor you can open, edit and save G-Code programs up to a size of 2 GB very fast. The reason is, that we have build in our "Text Editor Lighting fast" technologie into this program. The editor supports an unlimited number of undo and redo steps. All inputs can be converted into capital letters automatically. You can also convert all characters of existing files into capital letters.
You can use this program to find errors in the G-Code. If you click on a line in the 3D view, the line of G-Code will be selected in the editor. And if you go to a line in the editor the end point of the tool movement with be selected in the 3D view. You can run the program line by line, you can press the pause button and you can let the program run slower. You can let run the program up to or from the selected line in the editor you use can only run one line or a number of selected lines. You can see the current values of all variables if you activate the special tool window with Calculate/Show variables. If you are in the pause modus you can calculate any expression (like [SIN(#100)*#101] for example) for the variable values of the actual line of code with the function Calculate/Render expression.
With the DNC function you can transfer your programs to your CNC machine. The program let you format the source code in the following ways: Remove comments, space characters, space lines and block numbers. You can insert spaces or renumber the blocks. If you renumber the block numbers our software will update the GOTO blocks for you automatically.
The program can now also show ESSI code.Disclaimer: We have developed this software with the greatest possible care, but we can not guarenntee, that the program is completly free of any bugs. Different CNC machines may interpret the same G-Code in a different way. The drawing of the tool path in our software therefore is no guarentee, that your CNC machine will interpret the G-Code in the same way as our software. We are not responsible for damages on your CNC machine.
In addition, CIMCO Edit includes file compare, mill/turn backplotter, advanced Tool Manager, NC code assistant and offers powerful add-ons for machine simulation, program management, 2D CAD/CAM, and more.
Define associated objects such as workpiece, tools and holders directly in your NC programs for 1-click setup when simulating. Generate an operation structure for faster program navigation, track variable state and more.
Point at any M or G code and the NC-Assistant will identify the code and allow you to modify its values using an interactive interface linked to the CNC code. Input the desired values and the code is updated automatically.
The file compare identifies new, changed and deleted lines, but ignores trivial format changes such as block renumbering and spacing. Differences are displayed one line at a time, all at once or printed side-by-side for offline review.
The Predator CNC Editor is the most popular CNC code editor available on the market. It includes hundreds of features to improve the day to day productivity of CNC machine tools, operators and CNC programmers, yet it is extremely easy to use. The Predator CNC Editor is the ideal choice for the small job shop or the largest manufacturer. Choose from four editions:
Dozens of CNC intelligent editing commands make changes to your CNC program quickly and easily. Edit confidently with the ability to undo and redo all changes. Microsoft Word compatible menus, toolbar, and shortcut keys make Predator CNC Editor easy to learn.
The Predator CNC Editor supports up to 64 Megs of G-Code per CNC program. In addition, editing multiple CNC programs at the same time is supported with the ability to cut, copy, and paste between them.
The Predator CNC Editor includes a side by side file compare which identifies each G and M code difference and fixes them with a single click of the mouse. A summary report and numerous options to ignore spaces, blank lines, leader/trailer, feed rates, spindle speeds and tool changes simplify the process of integrating shop floor edits with a master CNC program.
Send, receive, and dripfeed to one machine at a time, via switch box or direct connection to any compatible CNC machine. Works in the background even while other software applications are running. Should a tool break, an easy to use DNC Restart command automatically re-creates the CNC program from any point.
NOTE: An upgrade to Predator DNC provides support for DNC networking of multiple CNC machines at the same time, comprehensive Ethernet, special RS232 protocols, conversational protocols, binary file transfers and BTR executive transfers.
Predator CNC Editor and Predator CNC Editor Enterprise bundle an entry level of Predator Virtual CNC to graphically verify CNC G-Code. Visualize your CNC programs in 3D by quickly backplotting any CNC program. Define stock and tool shapes to provide 3D animation and verification. Supports 2 and 3 axis mills, routers, waterjets, lasers and 2 Axis lathes. Within the graphics window zoom in, zoom out, pan and fit commands provide complete control of the process. Copy the backplot or 3D animation to the clipboard and quickly add graphics to your setup sheets.
NOTE: Numerous examples are provided. For best results, 3D backplotting and verification may require appropriate machine configuration and reverse post processor configuration which can be done by knowledgeable end users, Predator Resellers or Predator Software Inc. Extensive online help is provided for machine configuration and reverse post processor configuration.
NOTE: Backplotting and verification of 4 and 5 axis mills and mill/turn lathes all require an upgrade to our full Predator Virtual CNC product provides support for advanced 4 and 5 axis CNC verification, solid models, machine simulation and much more.
Double click or drag the splitter bar button located above the top scroll bar button to create a split view of the same CNC program. A second scroll bar will appear to support independent editing and scrolling in each view. Double click the splitter button to return to a single view.

We've been having weird numbers come up when getting toolpath statistics from Cimco Edit 8 since we updated. For instance, it's telling me my cut time is 7:52 (mastercam backplot says 18:06 so I'd expect at least close to that). It's also telling me that Rapid time is 42:21 which is a total crock. Anyone have any suggestions. We can't seem to find any settings that are incorrect to fix it.
If Fanuc Milling or ISO Milling gives you a better time, please send your Haas program to [email protected] describing your issue. I'm sure one of their Russian PhDs will fix it. They did it for us several times for a few filters and they actively enhance or fix their filters.
How do I display cylindrical solid stock in Cimco Edit Backplot with the centreline parallel with the X axis (as if set up on a 4 axis Vertical mill)? All I seem to be able to do is display the stock with the centreline parallel with the Z axis.
The backplotter is a project that dont see an upgrade for a long time... As far as I know theyve worked a lot on it in the past 2-3 years.. but nothing was released to the market yet... I think a great amount of these developments is going to the new mach sim module...
With the Machine sim work being done is going to force a lot of changes including changes to the backplot support. I can't say to much but I can verify what watcher said that there is a lot work going into Machine sim.
They grapple with how to work in the immigrant ancestors. Or how to explain about the bra-burning grandma or the parent with no boundaries. Or the moody kindergarten teacher. Or the sadistic vocal coach. Or the tragic first lover who drank himself to oblivion.
In the original version of The Great Gatsby, for example, F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote a lengthy biography of the title character. His editor Maxwell Perkins suggested he delete this slow beginning, which Fitzgerald did. He later rewrote the text as the excellent short story Absolution.
