WiFi signals can give you a hard time every now and then. Especially with fluctuating networks combined with the effect of external factors like the weather can get on the nerves. How often do think of a solution beyond restarting the router?

To help you explore your wifi network metageek brings to u InSSIder plus. The program has tools to help you retrieve a visual representati on of the entire wifi network. With this tool at hand it becomes easy to detect problems in the network.

The professional version has a beeper for strength of the signal and can connect to a wifi network from the app. It can also immobilize the screen timeout function and possesses live-tile support. This may not be a feature rich analyzer but is great for beginners.

This one is unique though. It has set goals for other wifi analyzers by adding features like GPS and live Google earth tracking. It scans the area for a wifi network and when one pops up on the radar, provides the user with the exact location, strength, name and the details of the network.

Designed especially for the act of war driving, the tool helps a person in a moving vehicle to find available wifi networks through a laptop or a smartphone. The only put off is an outdated user interface which makes the use of the application tedious.

If you are looking to analyze your home wifi network, wireshark is definitely not meant for you. Wireshark users are trained IT experts who undergo a thorough training for using this implement. The only limitation is its restrictive user base.

The most incredible feature of this tool is that it allows you to remove users from your wifi network even when you have no physical access to your router. Thanks to the ARP protocol function, you can manage the bandwidth and prevent trespassers from exploiting your network.

The user interface is a high standard 3D graphics illustration. This could be fun for specially those users who have a touch-screen laptop. This brings in the engagement factor and adds a sophistication element.

For starters we are greeted with a user interface which is easy on the eyes. Basic functions include channel search and network enhancement. In addition to these, this program will acquire details of communications between your PC and other IP addresses.

The above given wifi analyzers work just fine with their compatible devices. Whether you are a professional or just a normal internet user looking for the right solution to his wifi problem, the tools have been listed.

We've just finished deploying a large number of 2802s to several remote sites with a centralized controller (5520). We also have a Prime Infrastructure server set up. Are there any tools to look at to help with troubleshooting. I'm specifically thinking of finding and identifying sources of interference. I know there are many free tools to show available networks and display signal strength.

Alternatively, if you have the resources you can place an AP into Spectrum Expert mode and use that to monitor the environment around it. This provides you with an idea of air time usage and nearby interference but site survey tools often give you a more accurate and granular look into interference as well as the flexibility to wander around parts of the office.

Take a look at the AirMagnet suite of products. They have a spectrum analyzer and laptop analyzer that helps with data gathering for troubleshooting. Their are other tools from NetScout like the OneTouch and AirCheck G2 that are useful. We use all of them but depending on what the issue is, depends on what tool we use. The NetScout can be access remote which is helpful as long as you have people on the field that can move the device around.

Just to make sure I'm on the right track... can someone look at the attached graph? This is what I'm seeing on an AP in an area having trouble. The point where both lines go to zero is about when I rebooted the AP. I just want to make sure the issue is external interference sources rather than some setting I need to check on the controller.

They are both tied together. You will see interfere from adjacent wireless networks along with devices that also use that band. Both utilization and interference should be looked at but to determine what is the issue you would need a spectrum analyzer to identify the interference. CleanAir does a good job of identifying devices also in which Leo mentioned to make sure you have that enabled.

Read the Release Notes? There are several known issues with 2800/3800 APs and some Intel-based 802.11ac wireless NICs (7260/7265/8260). Ensure the wireless NICs drivers have been updated to the latest.

Let me add my 2cents. I don't know how much good info you can get with free tools. The enterprise tools do give you the best data but you pay for it. I know that inSSIDer is free and Windows store has a wifi analyzer. You can also use an AP in SE-Connect mode:

The 1802, 2802, 3802 doesn't support SE-Connect currently. You would need to get a 3602 or 3702 model in which you can just leave as a spectrum. Or you can just move that to areas which you want to review. With SE, the AP will not support clients in that mode.

A WiFi analyzer tool generates a visual display of the network data of your surrounding channels. The app turns your computer or mobile device into an analytics program that allows you to identify what you need to do to optimize your network.

For example, with a WiFi analyzer app like Microsoft WiFi Analyzer, you can look at other channels on your network and identify if they are faster than your current channel. Some providers will even allow you to draw up heat maps of signal distribution in your house or office to help you find the best location for your router.

Importance of a WiFi Analyzer for Connection QualityThe main reason why you need a WiFi analyzer is to maintain your connection quality. WiFi signals are in a constant state of fluctuation. Your WiFi connection can be performing well until something in the network changes and starts to impede its performance.

Troubleshooting a problem requires data collection and analysis. Without the source information on the normal operations of your network and the current behavior of the troubled system, your solution will be mere guesswork.

When your WiFi starts to slow down or disconnect, a WiFi analyzer will help you to identify the problem. By diagnosing the problem and addressing it, you ensure your connection stays up and running with minimal interference. A WiFi analyzer enables you to run diagnostics on what is happening with your connection and provides you with the information needed to optimize your network.

What makes this tool so effective is that the WiFi heat map can produce a physical image of an entire network site. This allows you to easily identify where your site is causing problems for your connection, and what needs to be done to address it. In short, a heat map makes it easier to improve your coverage and signal strength.

Site24x7 provides its Wireless Monitoring service as part of its Network Monitoring package. This system is more concerned with AP statuses and traffic throughput than signal strength and footprint. The tool is particularly effective on sites that combine both wired and wireless networks.

The Site24x7 Wireless Monitoring package is part of a wider Network Monitoring service that is delivered from a cloud platform. The Site24x7 system installs a local agent on a host connected to the network that is to be monitored. This agent performs a discovery routine that will identify wireless equipment as well as traditional switches and routers.

The Network Monitoring service automatically creates a hardware inventory, which will include both your wired and wireless equipment. The package also draws up a network topology map, which will include wireless APs. The Network Monitoring system also tracks traffic volumes through each device.

Site24x7 markets its platform in plans that include all modules. There are plans to suit a range of needs but they all include the same modules only with different capacities included. You can expand the capacity of any monitoring module by paying for an upgrade. Take a look at Site24x7 by accessing a 30-day free trial.

ManageEngine OpManager is an effective Wi-Fi analysis tool designed for enterprise networks, offering complete control over wireless environments to ensure constant uptime and availability. It simplifies monitoring complex, large-scale IT infrastructures by providing valuable insights into critical networking aspects, which helps quickly detect and troubleshoot emerging network issues.

ManageEngine OpUtils is recommended for its robust wireless network analysis capabilities and user-friendly interface. It excels in providing real-time monitoring and extensive compatibility with various network devices. The comprehensive reporting features deliver valuable insights for network performance optimization. Additionally, the prompt alerting system ensures quick identification and resolution of network issues.

The tool features signal monitors to ensure uninterrupted Wi-Fi signals by analyzing metrics like signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and signal strength. Network utilization monitors track the load on Wi-Fi components, while network traffic monitors oversee traffic metrics like bytes transmitted and received.

As mentioned above, NetSpot is one of the best programs on Windows and Mac because of its detailed heatmap. The user can upload a map of their location and run a survey with little complication. Once the survey has been completed, the areas where your connection is strongest will be marked in red.

NetSpot offers channel detection and signal analysis. The tool will show you all of the devices that are connected to the wireless network and their traffic. It also provides detailed signal performance information that includes a signal-to-noise ratio and a wireless heatmap that displays signal footprint and strength over a floor plan of your premises.
