Hi Wenches,
Hope you're all doing well! I know I've had to take a back seat with Wenches lately due to life/school/work/housing chaos, but I do have an interesting proposition.
The board at Charlie's Bike Shop (where I work) told me they're looking to host workshops to generate some activity/income over the winter. When I mentioned Wenches, they said that I could use some of my time here to work with you folks to organize something to happen in this space (242.5 Queen Street East).
The benefit to this would be that we would almost have an assigned wench-staff person that could bottom-line some tasks to get Wenches running (I know that we've been having some problems lately getting momentum going). As far as the space goes, it's not as spacious or well-stocked as CBN (we have about.. 6ish bike stands and 2 sets of tools but I could likely borrow a few sets from Bicycle Commons) but it is in the not-too-distant East End which is an area we've talked about branching into. I do think the board here wants to make a little money so a modest donation would be fine I think (might be more plausable if we were doing a spring session).
This is *just* an idea so if you all are more interested in doing something at Pirates/Sauce/CBN that's 100% cool and I hope to be involved (if peripherally).
Regardless of where things happen, I'd be down to support at a winterizing workshop, but if there's enough interest we could also focus on planning 3-4 concrete 4-week sessions for the Spring. Or do folks think there is enough interest in a 4-week session even now?
Let me know what you think :)
Jane
