We finally have a name for the workshop series: Gear Up!

here are the meeting minutes. Thanks so much to Joanne for taking notes.
Ainsley.

Meeting Sunday December 15th

Facilitator: Sum Yan
Note taker: Joanne
Attendees: Gabby, Patty, Ainsley, Emily, Steph, Heather, Gina, Moira, Karen, Kath

1. Intros

2. Curriculum
Sessions to be held at Bike Pirates on Sundays from 6:30-8:30pm
Topics to be a rotation of three sessions
a) anatomy, bike fit, flat fix
b) cables and brakes
c) advanced topic that will rotate each month (brainstormed topics: truing, general maintenance, ball bearings, touring, urban and defensive riding, bike polo)
It was suggested that those leading the workshop should be at Bike Pirates by 5:45pm to help with set-up and wrap-up of the shop's open hours
Discussion re: having participants work on their own bikes or watching a demonstration
Gabby, Ainsley and Gina to work on curriculum

3. Poster and Flyers
Julia and Lulu were presently working on the poster
We should have poster by next week
By-line should include: workshops for women and trans folk and that bikes should be in good working order for workshop
Brainstorming session: GEAR UP will be the name of the workshops

4. Session Leads
Ainsley to send out a google group, everyone will identify when they are available
Also, please identify if you are willing to be a lead (L) or assistant (A)
Dates:
Feb 5: Intro, bike fit, bike anatomy and flat fix
Feb 12: Cables and brakes
Feb 19: Winter riding
Feb 26: Women and trans meeting

5. Outreach
Discussed promotion strategy, will start with a soft promo within the cycling community to ensure that we are not overwhelmed with attendees
If we have too many participants, we will have to decide what number of partipants and what number of bikes can work in the space
Participation on a drop-in, first come, first serve basis. We can decide on registration at a later date
Ainsley to photocopy posters and make available at Bike Pirates
We will use Google calendar so that people can sign up to distribute posters and identify where they will be leaving posters
