Not sure if you're still discussing alternate names, but here's a
thought that struck me the other day:

Oregon News Nest (ONN).

As in:

Things are hatching at the ONN...:

blogs, careers, stories, collaborations, birds of prey, and the like.

onn.org is available as a domain name (as, I'm sure, would be the
whole name).

Lends itself to a distinctive logo.

Just a thought.

All best,

Jeff

Oh, for what it's worth, looks like onn.org isn't actually available -- just unused. (Unless, of course, Betsy is secretly Norwegian.)

Note that I'm not advocating such a change -- it is a great idea, but my vote would be stick with what we've got -- but I was so surprised that it might be available that I had to check.

an additional problem: ONN is known internationally (and beyond) as the Onion News Network.  that would be a massive mistake.

I thought of that last point too. Nevertheless, thanks Jeff for the suggestion.

AOK, thanks for considering and responding.

Oregon News Incubator is straight ahead and likely reveals its purpose more readily, which makes up for the alliteration lost.  Didn't know you already had secured the web address.

Incubator is still amenable to various "X hatched here" type tag lines.

BTW, idea for the nest came when visiting my mom's house on the Columbia, where a duck has nested in a garden on the deck and is warming 7 or 8 eggs.  Not that it reminded me of any of you =:)

Best,

Jeff

Hi Matt

So when do you want to get together so you can pay me? So far ONI has either directly created, or assisted in the creation of more than 15 stories. Which certainly meets the requirements of the bet! :)

At Matt's request (and after confirming it w/him on Twitter), I am
removing him from the list. FYI. Of course, it's a public list, so he
can see it whenever he wants to.
Yrs,
Suzi
PS Sorry to bug out on ONI, Cornelius et al, but it's going to have to
be when I move to Portland. You know, in the theoretical future.
Unless someone gives me assignments! :)

Can you do some spade work and get back to me by friday with what you learned
I'd say a week from now would be good to have a draft 800 words or so
Let me know

Hi group
yeah suzi is working on a story
I didn't mean to reply all
sorry Suzi
buuuut... nothing like an audience to keep the show going :)

There are still have open assignments for those interested in doing something for the ONI office share project
the group continues to put its money (and efforts) where its mouth is - helping to deliver news service to North/Northeast Portland
let me know if anyone else wants to participate in this news innovation experiment
cheers

Cornelius
