Hi Wesly project people.

I've just joined, having found your project via a friend and former
collegue, Gareth.E.

I'd like to get a better idea of where the vision of this project is
heading. A "road-map", as it were.

this is two levels
- the educational objectives
- the system itself, as far as functionality, modularity, integration
with existing systems (inc student management systems)

I am an educator (specialising in Higher Education but with workable
knowledge in education of primary and secondary students) as well as a
server-side developer, and eLearning analyist/Learning Designer with
experience large LMS's (such as Blackboard and Moodle) and
collaborative tools for education (such as Adobe Connect). I'm also
trying to drive web 2.0-type collaboration (wiki's, blogs, forums, et
al) to be used with students in the institution I currently work in.

looking forward to finding out more about this project.

thanks

Hello Barry,

I have been working on the Welsy project for a long time in the past and
eventually dropped it when I changed company.
I guess I can help you with all your questions, so please feel free to ask me
anything you might like to know.

- the educational objective
we are not committed to any educational target at the present time. The
application was developed to fulfill the requirements of an important Italian
telco, and it is capable to deliver multimedial (powerpoint-like) courses and
tests (multiple-answer choices).

- the system itself
The system comes from a mix of programming languages, and it's being migrated
from .NET to ColdFusion. On the clients you have a JavaScript-Flash
interaction only, while on the server there will be an Oracle or Sql Server
run by ColdFusion, and an additional C++, OpenOffice.org-based format
transcoder. You can also upload MS Office, OpenOffice.org, PDFs, SWFs as well
as some video formats, as attachments to your courses or tests.

The system is web-2.0 compatible, and it will work (functionality due to
April) with Adobe Connect. Also, compliance with the SCORM elearning standard
will be ensured.

That's all I know from my current position. Again, if you need additional,
more specific information, jusk ask. I'll forward your request to the
appropriate dept. Suggestions are also welcome.

Could I ask your location, and/or what HE system are you interested in?
I am trying to enter MIT, and I have been for some time at the American School
of Milan, Italy. I know some US, college-level counselors and trainers that
are looking for highly deployable elearning systems, as well. You might be
interested in talking with them.

Warm regards,

Claudio A. Andreoni
