Ex Western Welsh 1351 a Leyland PSUC1/11 with Park Royal B43F body is seen outside New Quay garage in 1974.

Both the bus and the garage had passed to Crosville in 1972 when the NBC had realigned the boundaries between the two companies.

The garage still remains although an additional building has been erected where the bus stands.

Remember going there in 1973 and might even have a photo from then.
The pink/red insert to the window rubber doesn't really go with
Crosville green though!

Very interesting photo - thanks.

regards

Nice shot John, I remember well photographing them myself, in black & white unfortunately.
They looked very odd with the pink window rubber not really suiting the green livery.

Attached photo continues the theme of ex-Western Welsh vehicles with Crosville. It shows Tiger Cub 1146 still in Western Welsh livery but with a Crosville fleet number (STL930). To its left is ex WWOC 1354 repainted into green but retaining its original red window surrounds.

It lasted longer with them than the ones that stayed with Western Welsh. They all went to North's while I was an apprentice in Barry & I finished there in early 1972. They were all sent to Barry for collection by North's & I was responsible for preparing them for the trip.

Ithink you will find that 281 and 284 went to Gelligaer.u.d.c.

MUH 146 is seen parked in the same place at Aberystwyth in December 1973. Judging by the alteration to the front offside panel for easier fitting of a rigid towbar it looks to have been relegated to the role of garage tow bus by this time.

Parked alongside is Crosville CVT 684 / NFM 684E a Bedford VAM5 with Duple C45F body, an unusual choice of a non Bristol lightweight chassis by Crosville.
