For some reason the council contracts in Monmouthshire always give the impression of having been rewarded purely with the idea of spending as little as possible. Especially when one of their neighbouring councils (Herefordshire) appears to have had new, low floor, vehicles on everything since before they became available! (I realise Hereford is in England, however it's rural nature is comparable).

Seen in Jan 2013 in Monmouth bus station is S741RNE. It's lack of a destination blind (or even a piece of paper!), rust and missing bits of trim ensures that local car dealers can save some of their advertising budget this year!

Your right there Carl Monmouthshire are only interested in spending as little as possable, They have there own timetable and operators another. If they were a bus operator they would be right cowboys. Except for there own school network....

Yes, I forgot about that. Helping to encourage local operators by competing against them for coach work!!

Yes, it does look as if Monmouthshire CC want to promote bus travel. Who does the bus belong to?? Assuming it had legals on it.

The Vario is owned by H&H Motors of Ross-on-Wye.  The regular vehicle on the service is an early low-floor Pointer-bodied Dart registered R46 XWO.

It appears to be operating Service 34 (Monmouth-Ross), which is a Herefordshire Council contract, rather than Monmouthshire CC.

I hadn’t realised that H&H had owned it for just short of 10 years.

It used to be a regular performer on Monmouthshire CC Service 60 (Monmouth-Raglan-Usk-Newport) when H&H held the contract in pre-Town & Country days.

This July 2012 shot shows it climbing the A40 between Whitchurch and Goodrich, heading for Ross-on-Wye.

Very unfair of me to criticize Monmouthshire and praise Herefordshire in this instance!! It has appeared for a while that Hereford gets new low floor stuff for it's contracts and Monmouthshire goes for any old tat (other than the Chepstow town services with Bebb).

Don't know why it received a Cardiff mark, presumably it was an H&H decision to use Cardiff LTO for the rereg.
Clynnog & Trefor reused TRM 15S on MB 709D J221 HDS in 8/04.
