Having been involved for 5 years now my advice would be dont!, however somebody told me the same 5 years ago and it didnt stop me!

Storage is the biggest issue, under cover and dry is best both to stop the weather and to stop any ‘enlightened’ individuals taking an interest in it. If it has to be outside try to protect it from frost/rain as much as possible even if that makes it look untidy (tarpaulins or masking tape for instance).

Find the parts that you need to get it into the condition you want it in (seats/internal fittings/destination blinds etc) as they’re likely to be available now but won’t be in a few years time.

Again, get any spares you can now if they’re available at scrap rates, they’ll soon become scarce. Even better if it’s the very last of the type as the company may well just want to get the parts out of the stores as quickly as possible. If you can find somebody that’s worked on the type, or the vehicle itself, then find what the common faults are and stock up accordingly.

Without they’re offering to help pay for it, don’t listen to anybody who tells you what livery or condition to restore it to!

Good Luck.

thanks for the reply carl , i do know a driver who works for arriva
and has driven some darts and when i last asked him he said he would
be intrested to help , i need a big anough private land to run it a
bit otherwise it will just get chassis rot , i will be hopefully be
seeing the said driver on saturday as he dose saturday shifts so can
have a good chat see what he says , regarding the livery i am hopeing
to keep it in cotswold stone as it was my fave livery and now there
getting painted so say in a few years there may be none left in the
standed livery ! :)

I believe that the Swansea bus museum has space available. Also St Helens bus museum has been advertising recently (not in Wales but closer to North Wales than Swansea is!).

We have room at the Swansea Bus Museum and a large private yard for it
to be driven on, but is a long and awkward drive from North to South Wales !
We can also help with any work on the bus
