Role: Ruby on Rails Developer
Who: Ponoko
Where: Wellington, NZ (in the funky bit with cafes)
Pay Range Median: 70k per year

I'm expanding our tech team as we have too much work and not enough hands on keyboards. This role will mostly involve working on the back end of the app, our increasingly popular API and maintaining the existing website. Knowing Ruby on Rails is not a requirement for applicants as you'll learn it on the job, but I do expect you to take ownership over the whole product and contribute towards design decisions.

Requirements
==========

- 3+ years commercial web app development experience
- Desire to learn Ruby on Rails if you don't already know it
- Strong level of attention to detail
- The ability to understand and be understood well by others
- Able to self prioritise and manage a reasonable workload
- Experience designing, developing and maintaining complex systems
- Participate in rostered "On Call" (paid)

Not required, but good to have in no particular order
=======================================

- Know Ruby on Rails
- Sysadmin skills
- Database administration / tuning experience
- A good level of comfort working directly with customers to identify and develop product features
- Open source contributions
- Experience working in a distributed team
- Python experience
- HTML/CSS and Javascript skills
- HTML5 based game frameworks
- Loves writing tests
- Qualifications are great, but not necessary - demonstrating your ability is far more important to us

The benefits
=========

- Flexible work hours
- Work on challenging problems and new technologies
- Lots of customers that LOVE our company and what we do
- Work with smart people and a great team
- State of the art computer equipment
- Learn Ruby on Rails on the job!
