Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, whose latest Netflix show 'Heeramandi' has put him into the spotlight again, once worked as an assistant to film director Vidhu Vinod Chopra. In a recent interview, Chopra revealed that Bhansali had edited a "terrible" trailer for his film '1942: A Love Story'. Eventually, it was Rajkumar Hirani who delivered what Chopra desired from the trailer, and subsequently, the duo churned out superhits like 'Munna Bhai MBBS', '3 Idiots', and 'Sanju'.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra recently delivered a sleeper-hit with Vikrant Massey-led '12th Fail'. The long-awaited trailer of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming original series, Heeramandi, was dropped on Tuesday. Heeramandi marks Sanjay Leela Bhansali's venture into the realm of web series, promising viewers an immersive experience like never before. Set against the backdrop of pre-independence India, Heeramandi unravels the intricate power dynamics between the revered 'tawaifs' and the influential 'nawabs' who visit their palaces. Amidst the fervour of the burgeoning freedom movement, even the women of Heeramandi find themselves entangled in the winds of change. The trailer impressed audiences, including actors like Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. Alia and Vicky gave a shoutout to the film's trailer and expressed their admiration.

Coming back to the trailer, Manisha Koirala plays the role of the matriarch overseeing the palace, where women are groomed in the art of enticing men through dance and singing. Sonakshi Sinha embodies the spirit of rebellion, striving to carve her own path amid societal constraints. Aditi Rao Hydari's character emerges as a pivotal figure in the freedom struggle, leading a spirited revolt against oppression.

Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar also stars Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, and Sanjeeda Shaikh, Fardeen Khan, Shekhar Suman, Adhyayan Suman, and Taha Shah. Heeramandi will premiere on May 1.

The upcoming season of Futurama has dropped a new trailer, hinting at a "fateful" twist in the relationship between Fry and Leela. The show, created by Simpsons mastermind Matt Groening and writer David X Cohen, is set to make its comeback this month with 10 fresh episodes on Hulu and Disney+, starting on Monday, July 29.

After a long wait, Sanjay Leela Bhansali finally dropped the trailer for Padmavati. As expected, the trailer is stunning and the battle scenes appear magnificent. The movie was unveiled today, at 1303 hours. For the uninitiated, 1303 was the year when Alauddin Khilji laid siege to Chittor for eight long months. The three-minute long trailer of Padmavati starring Deepika Padukone as Padmavati, Shahid Kapoor as Maharawal Ratan Singh and Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji, has not only got the fans but also the entire B-town excited.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known for making larger-than-life, grand and picturesque movies like Devdas, Bajirao Mastani, Saawariya and Guzaarish. Padmavati too, does not seem any different. And within three hours, the trailer has 111k views.

The movie is based on the poem of Padmavat by Sufi poet Malik Muhammed Jayasi that narrates the tale of Padmavati and Ratan Singh of Chittor. Khilji, mesmerised by the beauty of Padmavati, decides to capture her. When he is unable to do so, he decides to go to war with Chittor. To save herself from Khilji, Rani Padmavati, along with other Rajput women commits jauhar or self immolation.

Bhansali's Padmavati based on the poem is a fictional retelling of the real events of the 1303 siege of Chittor. Khilji was enthralled by the real Rani Padmini, who eventually committed jauhar to save her honour.

The making of Padmavati, directed by Sanjay Leela Bahnsali, has been fraught with controversies since it was announced. A fringe organisation by the name of Rajput Karni Sena, objected to what they imagined was going to be the portrayal of the rani. The film's sets at Jaipur was vandalised by members of the group and Bhansali was attacked as well.

The movie is set to release on December 1.

Doctor Who revisits the final days of the Last Great Time War, as the trailer for "Doctor Who - The Collection: Season 15" depicts how Fourth Doctor companion Leela (Louise Jameson) spent the final moments of the conflict. Jameson traveled with Tom Baker's incarnation of the Time Lord from 1977 to 1978, making her debut in the season 14 story "The Face of Evil". A warrior from the tribe of the Sevateen, Leela's travels with the Doctor gave her a greater perspective on what the universe can offer.

While most "The Collection" trailers released on Doctor Who's YouTube channel have explored all-new adventures of familiar companions and foes, the trailer for season 15's home release instead revisits the final days of one of Doctor Who's most destructive conflicts in "The Final Battle", as seen in "The Day of the Doctor".

Overlooking the under-siege capital of Gallifrey from a cliff during the Time War, Commander Leela is approached by Gallifreyan Soldier Axton (Dushane Keogh-Grenade), who hands her a teleportation device to escape on behalf of an unseen incarnation of the Doctor. Axton is suddenly struck down by a Dalek, leaving Leela to fend off a squadron led by the Supreme Dalek (Nicholas Briggs).

Leela parted ways with the Doctor in 1978's six-part serial "The Invasion of Time", where the pair stopped a plot by the Sontarans to assume control over Gallifrey itself. With the Sontaran invasion force vanquished, the Fourth Doctor left Leela on Gallifrey with the rest of the Time Lords, as she had fallen for Citadel Guard Commander Andred (Chris Tranchell). With K-9 (John Leeson) by her side, Leela had a new life on Gallifrey, with her and Andred marrying at some point between her last meeting with the Fourth Doctor and the Fifth Doctor (Peter Davidson) Doctor Who adventure "Arc of Infinity" showing the Time Lord regretting that he missed their wedding.

While Jameson would only have one later on-screen appearance in the 1993 Children In Need special "Dimensions In Time", Doctor Who's expanded media would take the character's adventures on Gallifrey and lead into her involvement in the Time War. Joining fellow Fourth Doctor companion Romana (Lalla Ward), the Gallifrey audio-drama saw the pair tackle civil wars, and alternate dimensions as she acted as an agent of the Time Lords, before leading into the events of the Time War in Gallifrey: Time War and Gallifrey: War Room.
