Bothhard drives are not recognized on 2 M1 Macs (M1 Pro Macbook, M1 Mac mini). My goal is for the drives to use NTFS because I also deal with Windows machines. Installed on the macs is Paragon NTFS For Mac M1 Version.

I have determined that the above mentioned app is not the issue. Sometimes, when connecting either drive, one of 2 scenarios occur. Either nothing will happen at all but checking System Report shows the drive under USB with the correct voltage, or I get a message saying the connected drive cannot be read with options to Initialize, Eject, or Ignore. Choosing Initialize opens Disk Utility where the drive is shown. After making sure to enable "Show All Devices", I run First Aid on the SSD and it is successful. However the Erase function fails every time. Most times I get "Wiping volume data to prevent future accidental probing failed. : (-69825)". A few times I get something about an I/O error. This is despite trying different formats (NTFS, APFS, etc).

Attempts using macOS Terminal vs Disk Utility produce the same results. Connecting a USB flash drive works fine on both Mac and Windows. At this point I am led to believe there is either something going on with the drives or macOS Monterey, but I am now at a point where I cannot isolate the problem. Have others experienced this? If so, what worked for you? I'm not sure where to go from here.

for resume, you have just to go to security and policies on mac and allow Samsung to be installed, with reducing the security of your mac disk and allow to identify developers or companies you will have all details in this document

Hello!

I am also on Mac OS Monterey 12.0.1 and I have the same problem. I have had it through various updates of my OS and was really hopeful to see that someone had made it work. I followed your instructions (and the trouble shooting guide), but no change for me unfortunately - what do you think I am doing wrong?

Kind regards,

Hannes

After installing macOS 12.0.1 Monterey, T5 (which had been working fine with Big Sur) gives the message "Failed to check for free space or failed to check for volume". Attempts at reinstallation get "This package is compatible with this version of macOS". How is this happening yet again? Doesn't Apple speak to suppliers like Samsung before a new macOS is introduced? Right now: does anybody know a fix?

Samsung Customer Care replied to this next day, 10 November, asking for the SSD T5 model number, which I provided. The problem persists: I still get "Failed to check for free space or failed to locate a volume" but also "Current software is up to date".

I have a MicroSD card reader in my notebook. When I insert a MicroSD memory card into it, I can't write any data on it - it's read-only. The same thing happens when I try to do it under root. And I can't change the permission policy for it. This problem happens for all microSD cards (I've tested 2 cards). I've encountered it on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, now I'm on Ubuntu 12.10, the problem is still on it's place. When I try to insert such a "read-only" card in my mobile phone, everything's OK and I can write data on it. So, can anybody tell me, how can I write a data onto the card?

UPD2: I've found a small "lock" switch on my card adapter, and it turns out, that when I insert it in my notebook, it switches on. Perhaps, I have to find some glue or something to get that switch stuck...

Two possibilities, first is that being a hardware thing, as micro SDHC have a little notch you can easily notice which matches another notch in the reader and that basically just enables it in read-only mode. That you can't change, just try to use another reader or you could put a piece of silicon or tape on notch, easiest thing is to use another reader.

This will give you a list of the drives on your system, figure out which drive it is in the list, easiest way is to look for the blocks as this is the space. It will probably be /dev/sdb or /dev/sdc, then

NOTE: sometimes a microsd card may be set to READONLY state because it has detected that the media is no longer reliable (this can happen after too many writes). It is meant to allow the user to get any data off before it becomes totally unusable. If you find that your microsd card enters this state by no action of your own, consider that it may make sense to recover any data and trash the microsd card anyway.*

And that's it.... remember windows can't do this because there is a virus in your pen drive ok... now it doesn't any permission to be changed so if you find any .exe file not getting deleted from your pd just do the above two step and than you'll be able to delete it...

I was just having the same problem and read in another post that Ubuntu somehow locks the SD once it's been improperly removed. Anyone who gets the "Destination is read-only" message check that the locking switch in the SD to MicroSD adapter is not in Lock mode, and if that's true, try again after logging out of Ubuntu and logging back in.

Tried everything above. Still read-only. Asked Samsung and found someone who actually knows something about microSD cards. Was told that when the card fails (not the reader) it sometimes goes into read-only mode. Try replacing the card. Samsung will replace cards more than 30 days old.

I too had this problem. I first noticed it when it wouldn't let me empty the bin. I searched on here for a solution and nothing I tried worked. Then, I noticed on the SD Adapter a little sliding tab which 'locks' the card. Slide that so that it isn't locked. Simple. Never noticed it. After hours of beating my head against a wall, it was a simple mecahnical solution.

FYI, I had a microSD card that failed (read-only) with its original Samsung SD adapter with the OPs symptoms. A final throw of the dice, putting it in a different SD adapter, this time from SanDisk made it operational again.

You have to use the Gnome Disk Utility and reformat ALL data, taking them to zeros. It will work perfectly after that. There is some proprietary junk in there that will get in the way, straight out of the package.

I had this issue, and somehow my Dell laptop BIOS had writing to SD cards disable. Here's the checkbox that must be unchecked in order to write to SD cards via the laptop's built-in microSD card reader

Hi, I've had my 2 head XL for a couple weeks now and have printed at least a dozen different things without issue. I've been using the 2.7 alpha slicer and firmware version 5.1 alpha for about a week now with no issues, just completed a 6 hour print last night that came out great. Today I've run into an issue where the printer stops/freezes mid print, somewhere around 40% and sits there. When I pause and resume the printer post a USB failed to read file error. I've tried reslicing and also saving as bgcode and it still fails. I'm now trying with 2.6.1 slicer to try and figure out what is going on. Has anyone seen this issue on the XL or MK4? Should I attempt to format the USB key?

USB flash drive disconnect can occur. Try reinserting the drive to continue using it. In the case of G-code streaming, the system might not be able to resume printing. Should that happen, please copy the file on the USB drive instead.

I experienced this several times during a 9-hour print and decided to go back to 4.7.2 for the remaining of the prints in that batch. I'm considering updating to the 5.1 alpha again just for the .bgcode, but might wait until alpha 3 or whatever the next update will be called.

Unfortunately, leaking from the nozzle results in an obvious layer line gap, basically ruining the print that it happened in even if you pull the thumb drive out and put it back in to try to resume. And just so it's been said, this only counts if you nice it happened essentially immediately.

Agreed, I get a blob from leaking filament then a gap when resuming. Also had a couple of occasions where it appears lines in the layer were lost when resuming. Regardless seems pretty difficult to make a decent print when this occurs. Hopefully this is fixed soon, may try the factory reset, also purchased a Samsung USB key to try.

I don't think it is the USB drive itself. The error is the symptom. I've only had the issue when printing with all five tool heads. I have printed 5, 8-hour prints using a single head with no problems at all. But the last print using all 5 heads stopped at least 4 times during the print.

Came here to say that I'm experiencing the exact same issue. Some prints print with no issue, some pause many times during the print. All my prints have been 2-4 colors and under 3 hours. Had this issue on 4.7.1 and 5.1 Alpha. Glad and sad that I'm not the only one ?
