Repair or time for a new kite?

Hi,

Took my 9m airush kite out yesterday for the first time since last summer. My brother and I are still beginners so there is usually a few crashes during our sessions.

After one of the crashes yesterday we got two rips right across the width of the canopy, just outside the outer spars, plus the canopy was peeling away over a length of about 10-15cm from the leading edge.

The kite is a 2007 model so getting a bit long in the tooth, we've had it since 2010 and it has had a pretty hard life putting up with our learning exploits!

Just wondering from some more experienced kitesurfers if you think it is worth repairing or time to bite the bullet and get a new/er kite?

Having said that, on a proper read of your post - usually if you suspect your kite might need replacing- it probably does. I'm more than happy to have a good look over it for you and go from there!

Get a new kite. Things have moved on a long way in kite development since then. A newer kite will make your experience much more enjoyable and will be easier to ride & handle.      If youve had the kite for 4 years, its defo time to renew.....
