The NZ Game Developers Conference (NZ GDC) will be on Friday 28 June 2013 at AUT University in Auckland, with optional workshops on the Saturday.
Last year's conference sold out 220 places incredibly quickly and had extremely positive feedback from delegates. This year we have a larger venue (AUT's shiny new lecture theatres can hold 380 people) and we want to raise the bar on the quality and relevance of presentations (especially if you're giving up a day working on projects to be there). And a kick-arse social event for Friday night.
Planning is underway, but we need your input to make sure it is the conference that you want to attend. Ticket prices aren't set yet, but we're thinking between $50 to $100, including refreshments and the social event (great value!). We'd love to see as many Wellington Devs there too. We're aiming to make it pretty practical so it complements events like AnimFX.
We need your help. We're looking for:
Presentations on our four topics: programming, game design, art and design, business and marketing. Presentations will be 20 minutes then Q&A. We want them to be practical, relevant and inspiring! Share a technique or workflow your studio has been working on, give a warts'n'all post-mortem, run a panel discussion or a deep dive for other professional game developers. Email
ste...@ingame.co.nz with a title, and 3 things the audience will get out of it, and maybe a short blurb.
Topic Requests. What skills, knowledge, inspiration or confidence do your team really need to succeed? What is in their professional development plans? What was a great international GDC talk that you know would make a difference here? Are there any particular techniques or pipelines you're trying to get better at? Don't suggest generic stuff, give us real problems that you wish someone could help you with, and we'll try to match presentations to these.
Any crazy ideas are welcome too.
