Independent Studios thinking of moving to Wellington

Hi all,

I am the co-owner/lead programmer of a small niche game studio Camshaft Software

Our first title is called Automation - The Car Company Tycoon

We have been kicking around the idea of moving to NZ/Wellington for a while. In US dollar terms, it seems cheaper to live compared to Melbourne (for the rent of our pokey 3 bedroom unit, can get a large 4 bedroom house), and as we are total car nerds NZ has far more awesome laws for allowing modified cars.

I helped a little with getting IGDA Melbourne setup, and generally lug a projector/other IT equipment to the meets. So would be keen to take my experiences learnt here and apply them to game dev meets in Wellington.

Be great to meet some of you, will probably be planning a scouting mission in the next few months or so.

Sounds like an exciting move for you Caswal, Wellington really is a fantastic neck of the woods. I can't see you having any regrets! I look forward to news.

NZ is cracking down on car modifications. But our game dev community in Wellington is awesome and growing fast! Also Wellington is small enough that when your modified cars get confiscated you'll still be able to walk everywhere ;)
