Thomas of Sevenoaks 1668

Thomas, baptised 26 Aug 1668 at Tonbridge, was son of Thomas WELLER,
gent, 1632-1722 and his second wife Elizabeth LEGAT. (See 'Thomas
Weller 1632' topic.)

He married by licence at Sevenoaks on 1 Apr 1695 Ann SAXBY, who died
1712. He had previously married Elizabeth BASSET there on 23 Jun
1692, who was buried 12 Nov 1694.

The will of his sister Sarah, 1726, mentions Thomas's children Daniel,
Henry, Robert, Sarah and Ann COLGATE. (see Mike's messaage in thread
of Henry 1704.)

There were burials at Sevenoaks of:
10 Jul 1712 Ann w/o Mr Thomas.
3 Nov 1716 Elizabeth
20 Aug 1734 Ann w/o Mr Thomas.

There were WELLERs in Sevenoaks before Thomas of Tonbridge settled
there. They may have come from Rotherfield, as on 10 Sep 1657 Samuel
WELLER of Rotherfield married Frances THORNTON at Sevenoaks. There
had been WELLERs in Rotherfield for centuries. In 1296 Robert atte
WELLE of Rotherfield paid subsidy tax of 4 shillings and 6 pence.

Thomas 1668's wife Ann was buried Sevenoaks 10 Jul 1712. He married
thirdly, Anne, widow of Thomas TOMLYN of Wrotham at Wrotham 5 Mar
1716/17. She also predeceased him and was buried Sevnoaks 20 Aug
1734. Thomas followed on 27 Feb 1737/38.
