@Amal. - I was not convinced with either of the suggestions, but I tried them anyway. I installed Acrobat Pro DC v22.1.20117 64-bit (AGAIN) under the new user account suggested and the same behaviour described in my original post still happens.
@Amal. - I've gone full circle with this issue, and without a clear solution on the ongoing bugs on Adobe Acrobat Pro DC (64-bit) coming from anyone from Adobe, it would appear that there is no solution.
On a side note, since you were talking about publishing for MAC, I believe 64bit for MAC has been available for quite a while, it's only the windows 64bit version that is now available with the latest SDK.
Beyond 3D viewing performance, 64-bit users will also maintain associativity with their models. When selecting a 3D dimension, the corresponding associated 3D features should highlight to give instant visual feedback. This is called visual response (shown in Figure 1) and is required by ASME Y14.41 standard such that any annotation must have this type of capability to understand where the annotation is applied as is shown in this example of a dimension highlighting the associated faces.
With the use of Adobe Acrobat 64-bit, DirectX 9 and some simple options, you should be able to see better performance than what was available in the 32-bit Adobe products. Anark publication processes to create 3D PDFs have not changed other than to take advantage of the latest Adobe Acrobat versions. There are potential adverse implications of using DirectX 9 since this is a very old technology. This is a Adobe decision at this time but, Anark has the expertise to guide you though any issues you are seeing with the performance of your 3D PDF documents.
If you are using 64-bit Office 2010 beta then the second area (without the Wow6432Node) must exist for the preview handler to work. Copy the registry keys/values there if it doesn't exist. Or just use the automated tool above as it will do this for you. This extra step is not required for the retail (RTM) version of Office 2010; only for the beta.
Directory Opus uses my bundled plugin as a bridge for various third-party viewers, including Adobe Reader if it's installed. I made earlier versions use the full Adobe Reader by default. I had to write a 64-to-32-bit ActiveX proxy process to make the Adobe Reader and Flash viewers work within 64-bit Opus. A lot of effort due to Adobe being so lax at producing 64-bit components. Adobe Reader was originally used instead of the preview handler because of various issues with the preview handler.
