I am working on a book

I am now working for the UN Office of Sport for Development and Peace
and that is why I have been so busy. I did not have much free time to
post on this forum.
Now I am coming up for air and here is my new posting for the month of
September.
I have embarked on a new journey. That is to write a book about "how
Buddhism came to the United States".
I have noticed that there are a great number of books on Mahayana
Buddhism (which is a good thing), but we need to also fill in some
interesting things about what is happening in the Theravada Buddhist
community here in the USA and how we can find ways and means of
bringing these two traditions together for greater coordination and
cooperation for the greater goal of spreading the message of the Buddha
in the USA.
Make no mistake about it. I have a very liberal view about Buddhism. I
do not believe that it is a religion although some Buddhist
practitioners may regard it as such. They are free to have their own
opinions. For me, I think of Buddhism as a philosophy of life so that
it is equally possible to work within a Buddhist community and also to
become a lone seeker of truth in accordance with one's situation in
life.
Living in New Jersey but working in Manhattan, I have to make a balance
between my preference for quiet lonely places up in the mountains or
deep in the forest and my need to work in a City environment with the
hustle and bustle of traffic and to live in harmony with all types of
people who have different stages of spiritual development.
So to get back to my original point.
I am looking actively for people who would like to work with me on this
book.

As the Buddha said many many years ago, truth can be found in any place
in the world at any time as long as there is a will, a way to practice
the path and a good teacher.
