I have the second article on PDF and can send it to anyone who is
interested. By the way, is there any way for me to post articles, such
as these, on this website? Can I post them in the "wisdom portal" for
example?

Tom,
If you reply to this email just as you normally reply to any email, you
may attach your PDF to your reply and send it. The attachment will
become available for download in the web version of your post on Google
Groups as well as everyone subscribed getting a copy in their in box!
We can also post to the main website as well however... I will post
instructions about that later...

Dear Tom,
Thanks for joining this forum and thanks for your offer to send the pdf
version of the article.
Can you send the pdf version to me.
You can post articles. All you need to do is to send an email to
the webmaster Ben Sheppard and he will set you up so that you can post
articles in the future automatically without any further steps.
I have recently read an article in the Burmese magazine called
"Nay La Journal" which says that in the olden days there are a
university in the province of Gandhara which is now partly in Pakistan
and maybe partly in Afghanistan.
Any way, it is said in this article that there was once a hermit
or a master of all the weizzar arts (Weizzar Pyinnya) and his name was
called Gandhara. Later his disciples came to be known as the Gandhari
Weizzars. At least that is one story.
The other story is that because this place of learning or
university was located in the Gandhara province, the learning itself
came to be known as the Gandhari weizzar path (here weizzar meaning
just learning or knowledge).
Thus Aba Bo Bo Aung and Aba Bo Min Gaung called themselves
Gandhari weizzar of the Pathaman gaing. I have asked the meaning of
Pathaman to a friend of mine who is knowledgeable in this field and he
told me that Pathaman comes from the Sanskrit and Pali word Patama -
which means "first". So these Weizzars regard themselves as the
Pathfinders or Pioneers in this field.
We must realize that the Weizzar path is based on Buddhist
philosophy and all the knowledge accumulated in various fields of
learning.
I think you will enjoy the articles that appear regularly in the
Nay La Journal and the Manaw Maya Journal published by Saya Gyi Min
Theinkha.
Best of luck in your practice and hope to see you soon.
