Weiz Guys and Gals,

 

The next Weiz Guys meeting is this coming Tuesday (8/19) at Crooked Beech and Brewing Company.  This is the first meeting for the new corps of officers, and we have a lot planned for the coming months.  This is what is in store through the end of the year.  For more details, please check the Weiz Guys Calendar!   

 

August

Charity Giving:              $500 to FoCo Café.  Worthy cause that supports the community.  They need help.  Please donate at: https://www.fococafe.org/

Hoppy Hour:                   Combined with meeting, 30 minutes prior to meeting start.  One free drink per paid member.

Meeting:                            Crooked Beach and Brewing Company - Tuesday, (8/19), 6:30pm to 9:00pm

  • Education: Phil - How to make a liqueur
    • Phil makes a fantastic Limoncello and Orangechello .  He is going to share how these are made.
  • Education: Blake - Anatomy of a cask.
    • We have a firkin that the Weiz Guys won last year at the Rocky Mountain Homebrew Challenge.  This must be returned soon; however, not before we examine the components such as the stillage, cask keg, shive, spiles, keystone and spigot.

September

Hoppy Hour:                   City Star Brewing - Thursday (9/11), 6:30pm to 8:30pm.  One free drink per paid member.

Meeting :                           Grimm Brothers Taproom + Kitchen

  • Education: Talk by AHA Executive Director Julia Herz on the future of the American Homebrewers Association.
  • Q & A Session to follow.
  • SORRY.  NO HOMEBREW SHARE

Event:                                  Weiz Guys Booth at the NoCo Brew Festival, Saturday (9/20), 3:00pm to 8:00pm

  • Severance Community Park, 100 Waterfowl Way, Severance, CO 80550.

 

October

Hoppy Hour:                   Loveland Aleworks - Wednesday (10/1), 6:30 to 8:30.  One free drink per paid member.

Meeting:                            Verboten Brewing and Barrel Project - Wednesday (10/22), 6:30pm to 9:00pm.  PLEASE NOTE THE DATE CHANGE FOR THE MEETING

  • Food/Beer/Cider Pairing by Rusty Brinkman/Crow Creek Catering
    • Member’s only event with limited seating.  Sign up and menu for the event will be posted soon.
  • Club Only Competition (COC) - Postponed until November meeting.
  • Announcement of next club comp (COC)
  • Homebrew Share if there is time.

Event:                                  Award making/BBQ for Sweetheart’s Revenge 2026 (SR2026), Saturday (10/18), Award Making: 9:00am to 1:00pm, BBQ: 1:00pm to 4:00pm

Meeting:                            Purpose Brewing and Cellars in Fort Collins (Holiday Party) - Wednesday (12/17)  PLEASE NOTE THE DATE CHANGE OF MEETING

SR2026:                            Enty window for the competition opens 12/15/2026.  Entry Window Closes: 01/12/2026

Hi Blake:

Impressive!  You have the world planned :)

I'm a Weiz Guy member (but may have lapsed).  Can you check my status (or send me to the Membership coordinator) so that I can make sure that I'm a current paid-up member?  Other than the distance, I've always thought that the Weiz Guys are "my club" and I'd attend meetings except for the 2 hour drive each way.  My primary club for the past 10 years has been Indian Peaks Alers in Longmont, but I'm proud to also be a Weiz Guy.  I've interviewed "local" clubs after moving from Brighton to Fofield (near Parker), but so far I'm happy to be a "remote" member of IPAlers and Weiz Guys.
