Well, let's see:
- NATO was forced into this conflict by Russia who not only started the war in 2014 (despite the intention of the new government of remaining neutral) but made clear that the "special military operation" was about starting a proxy war with NATO as Putin's 2021 ultimatum to NATO (barely mentionned Ukraine, didn't mention the Donbas or its inhabitants) made extremely clear beyond any doubt.
- as a reminder, Ukraine is not part of NATO. No NATO battalion, division or army has been engaged in this war.
- So far, NATO's losses, even if we wanted to be extremely generous, would be in the three digits at the absolute most. And probably closer to two or even one digit given how few specialists are involved very far from any frontline. Russia's losses (dead and wounded) on the other hand are between 500k to 1,000k (hard to get an accurate reliable number).
=> 100 losses vs up to a million -> Russia is getting wiped on the floor there ;p.
- So far, NATO has lost 1 drone due to russian actions. That's all. If we want to be extremely generous and accounting for modern equipment given to Ukraine, then close to 100 "NATO" tanks have been lost. Russia has lost most than 3000 tanks so far.
=> 0 to 100 vs 3000+ -> Russia is getting absolutely crushed there.
- Russia has lost a tiny portion of its territory and is proving unable to take it back so far. NATO hasn't lost a square inch of territory so far.
=> Here again, it's clear how much NATO is dominating Russia.
- Russia is spending from 6% up to 12% of its GDP into this war (hard to get an exact reliable number). NATO members on average dedicate not even 1% of their own GDP.
=> less than 1% vs 6 to 12% -> it's clear this war is costing Russia way more, or to say it in another way, NATO is "waging" this war that was forced onto them on the cheap.
You're right that Putin started a proxy war against NATO, but once you compare NATO to Russia, NATO is overwhelmingly winning in absolutely every respect but in the denial of reality you guys have made as your safe space ;p.
-> point is, don't start a proxy war against NATO. China might be able to, but it proved to be way beyond the means of Russia.
