I have installed WeeWX on an updated Raspberry Pi and trying to start weewx and getting this error:

Apr 21 16:16:58 Weatherpi weewx[1056]: engine: Initializing engine

Apr 21 16:16:58 Weatherpi weewx[1056]: engine: Loading station type Vantage (weewx.drivers.vantage)
Apr 21 16:16:58 Weatherpi weewx[1056]: vantage: Driver version is 3.1.1
Apr 21 16:16:58 Weatherpi systemd[1]: Started LSB: weewx weather system.
Apr 21 16:16:58 Weatherpi weewx[1056]: vantage: Socket error while opening port 22222 to ethernet host WeeWX.
Apr 21 16:16:58 Weatherpi weewx[1056]: engine: Import of driver failed: [Errno 111] Connection refused (<class 'weewx.WeeWxIOError'>)
Apr 21 16:16:58 Weatherpi weewx[1056]: engine: Unable to load driver: [Errno 111] Connection refused
Apr 21 16:16:58 Weatherpi weewx[1056]:     ****  Exiting...

Any suggestions on how to fix?

It looks like you set the driver up for an ethernet connection to your Vantage station, rather than the more usual USB. The WeatherLinkIP logger uses ethernet connections. Are you sure that's what you have?

Yes, I have a WeatherLinkIP logger. I am wondering if I need to hard code an ip address instead of trying to use host WeeWX?

That did not seem to help:

Apr 21 17:12:56 Weatherpi weewx[1271]: Starting weewx weather system: weewx.
Apr 21 17:12:56 Weatherpi weewx[1285]: vantage: Driver version is 3.1.1

Apr 21 17:12:56 Weatherpi weewx[1285]: engine: Import of driver failed: [Errno 111] Connection refused (<class 'weewx.WeeWx

Apr 21 17:12:56 Weatherpi weewx[1285]: engine: Unable to load driver: [Errno 111] Connection refused

Connnection refused is the computer you are trying to connect to 'generally' is not listening on that port.

You probably want your weewx.conf to have the ip address of the WeatherLinux box in it, 'not' the ip address of the weewx host itself.  Lots of people make that mistake.

Not sure I follow... "WeatherLinux box in it"  ?

What should this be? 192.168.1.122 is my Raspberry Pi

If the connection type is ethernet, an IP Address/hostname is required:
      host = 192.168.1.122

You want the IP address of the WeatherLinkIP, not your computer.

You may be able to figure it out by logging into your router and looking for 'attached devices' (or something similar).

My bad, I have corrected the issue. It turns out that I did need to change the connection type from Ethernet to serial. This was suggested early on, but my lack of understanding got in the way. Thanks.

So, to close this thread off, you do not have a WeatherLinkIP? Instead, you have the more conventional USB version?
