Hi,

I just found out that that the wview site hadn't been updated since 2014 so I tumbled upon weewx while looking around for alternatives that is actively maintained.

So I installed weewx in my debian box and copied the wview database over, got everything up and running in a short time. - A part from pulling data from the Davis box.  I have the correct IP address and port number.  The debian box can ping the Davis unit too.  The wview daemon is stopped so it shouldn't interfere.  But there seems to be no or at least broken communication.  Under wview there was never any communication problems.  Do I have to reset the Davis box in order to get it accept the weewx daemon?  What can be the problem? Does it exist different drivers for Davis units?  Thanks for comments!

Btw: Does it exist downloadable language packs somewhere, or does every user create their own?

regards Tor

We'd have to see your config file - see http://www.weewx.com/docs/utilities.htm#wee_debug_utility and run the utility and post the (obfuscated) config file please.

[...matthew/tom/gary - do we have a 'how to report a problem' wiki page ?  I couldn't find one in a quick scan of the online wiki/docs....]

I take it you have a Weatherlink IP logger?

Have you disabled it from talking to the Davis Weatherlink site? Unfortunately, the way weewx is written, it is not possible to use weewx AND send data to the WL website. You must choose one or the other. To disable it, open a web browser, using the IP address of your WLIP. You should see a checkbox to disable it from talking to the WL website.

Mind you, I do not own a WLIP, so this is all second-hand knowledge!

Thanks for the tip.  The only device I have in addition to the Vantage Pro 2 is the Davis Ethernet adapter which connects the Davis box via ethernet to my server running WeeWX.

As you see from my config, the Davis interface IP is 172.20.100.40.  I tried to connect via port 80 but no answer, when I tried via port 22222 the connection was reset.  Do you have any more info on this scenario..?

When you say "I tried to connect via port 80" did you mean that you used a browser to go to http://172.20.100.40:80? Or something else?

Yeah, I meant http://172.20.100.40 in a browser...

Hi again,

I don't think that anyone has registered our device to the online weatherlink database. But I will drive to the site later to collect the serial and device ID and check if they indeed are registered at weatherlink.com so we know.

However will the Weatherlink IP adapter by default in any case try to contact weatherlink.com and by that deny communications with weewx?

Is there a setting in the Vantage Pro 2 console setup where I can switch off this weatherlink communication?

best regards

Tor

Again, I don't own one of these, so I don't know the details, but I believe that by default it always tries to contact weatherlink.

I don't think there is a setting on the console where you can switch off this communication. I think you have to do it through a browser.

Any WLIP owners out there who can answer Tor's question?
