Recently installed new router ASUS RT-AC68U, this is connected to my old router now used only as a modem. Since then I have not been able to publish to WOW or weatherunderground.

It is the router at fault as I have another Raspberry PI with 123solar on it and it has the same problem. Attached is a section of the syslog.

I am hoping someone may have a similar installation and has the answer :)

Port forwarding through the router is not a problem, as I can access via no-ip.

I have no problems with building a new weewx installation from the pi using apt-get etc.

I have posted this on the ASUS forum, but I think they do not have the interest we have in posting to sites like WU or WOW or PVoutput so may not have experienced this type of problem.

Regards

Neville

Can you publish using a fake URL and wget, such as (the example URL is from their website):

The response will be in file "response". If this works, then your router is OK. If not, then you have a firewall issue.

Thanks for the response Tom

I have tried several things. If I input via mac safari the http://........> with my ID and PW I update the station information.

If I input the full link in terminal on the mac it does not update the station information.

If i input the full link logged into my raspberry pi I get the attached information, which, within weewx displays as url open error etc.

The firewall is disabled on the router.

So I still have no idea madly googling, If you have any more thoughts or anybody else I will appreciate it.

Regards

Neville.

I have thought to go back to my old router but this new one is so much faster it is chalk and cheese so I will keep trying :)

Looks like a DNS problem. Double check the DNS settings on the router. Most use something like "Connect to DNS server automatically." If your ISP does not support that, you may have to put in the IP address of a DNS server manually.

Can you "ping" weatherstation.wunderground.com from the RPi?

Tom again thanks for the response.

I have found the problem, not by any great understanding by me :), but by googling wget problems, and here I found out about /etc/resolv.conf.

this points the pi (or other devices) to the address required to resolv the address....it had the address of my original router that is "name server 192.168.1.254 and should be 192.168.1.1.

I changed this and weewx reports it posted to WU and WU is showing updated info....so looking good it has had now 2  5min updates :).

So there you go learn something new every day.

Regards

Neville
