WMRS200 rain off after replacing sensor

hello there,

hope there's still someone around knowing about the OregonScientific stuff.

I installed weewx beginning of february, and everything seemed to work fine. also rain values seemed plausible. last weekend i realized the rain bucket was disconnected and found that even after replacing its batteries it didn't connect anymore. luckily i had a replacement from another set and got it connected.

today it rained for the first time in a while - i'd estimate about 6mm so far - but weewx is showing (on it's webpage) and reporting (to PWS&co) 600mm. im a bit confused as i of course assumed these buckets were identical, and i didn't change anything in config.

does anyone know if there are different buckets? and if so, where would be the best place to correct/adapt/calibrate? target_unit is US fwiw.
