Help with installing neowx-material skin.

Hello all,

I'm running WeeWX on an R-Pi 1, Debian, having used apt to install - currently running the default "Seasons" skin.

I just want to check that I have done things right as I have come to something of a dead end:

Download the latest version of the skin: neowx-material-latest.zip to the ~/downloaded-skins directory.
from the ~ directory, execute:

sudo weectl extension install ~/downloaded-skins/neowx-material-latest.zip

Output for that was:

Using configuration file /etc/weewx/weewx.conf
Install extension '/home/nick/downloaded-skins/neowx-material-latest.zip' (y/n)? y
Extracting from zip archive /home/nick/downloaded-skins/neowx-material-latest.zip

Executing: sudo weectl extension list gives me:

GW1000            0.6.3     WeeWX driver for devices using the Ecowitt LAN/Wi-Fi Gateway API.
neowx-material    1.11      The most versatile and modern weewx skin

Next I should enable the skin in wewwx.conf, and then restart weewx, but there is no entry for the skin under the section: [StdReport]

Obviously, I am misunderstanding something so any help would be very much appreciated.

Released March 30, 2021. So that's a bold claim. 

If there is no entry in StdReport, you need to add it manually. A quick glance on the skin's installer let's me assume the most modern skin there is, doesn't do that for you, unlike a lot of the older ones.

Hmm, yes - I noticed that later, been a bit stale to declare: "The most versatile and modern weewx skin" :D

I think I'll uninstall and try Belchertown, which I have found since, but thank you for your advice and, if I were to add that to the [StdReport], does it just go anywhere in the list of report styles. or does it need to be at the beginning or end of that list?

It's just another Report you run, so anywhere under StdReport. But afaik the order in the conf files is the processing order of the reports.

There is more modern version of neowx skin. You can try using it also.

And it still uses that hell of a nightmare version of the historygenerator. Not that the current version is less of a nightmare, but it improved a lot. :D
