Rainfall rate simulators

Hi all,

Does anyone know of a device that given the appropriate amount of water, can shower what lies below at known rain rates? The piezo rainfall sensor on the WittBoy has what looks like a 5-band graphic equaliser, where at differing bands of rain rates, you can multiply the rate by a constant factor.
