Had an unknown problem with the RPi which had been running weewx for the past 6 months or so. Would no longer boot. Probably corrupted sd card.

Flashed RaspPi OS 2020-05-27 buster onto a new card, configured it, then installed weewx 4.1.1 following the users guide. Have Davis Vantage Pro 2 wired with IP, took quite a while (hour?) for weewx to come up and start sending FTP reports to my server. When I tried to go into the RPi using a browser to its IP address, looked like there was no web server running. Looked on top, there was python3 running, but never apache. Came back to it today to figure out why I couldn't get a local weewx page, watched top for a while, never saw apache running. So, not knowing what I'm doing, I installed apache2 (which I always thought weewx did in the past). rebooted and a minute later the weewx page was available at the local address.

Did some searches for some change in configuration to weewx, but contrary to my previous statement, I couldn't find anything about apache not being installed. In any event, it's working find now, shipping reports via FTP to my public server, and presenting a local html page with the same data.

Did I screw up something in the config to prevent the webserver from installing? Or did I forget something obvious (I'm getting old)...

Cheers - Jon N7UV

WeeWX has never installed Apache. Perhaps you are thinking of wview?

apache is typically bundled in with linux package (depending on flavour of package: LAMP, gui, ..).
it has never been part of weewx (or wview).
the web server (apache, nginx, ..) is an independent component

playing with my new RPi, i was half-way thru implementing lighttpd when i recalled my webhost provider uses apache, so for my personal support reasons had to go back to the very RAM-hungry apache

I understand and now can’t fathom why I thought it did install Apache.

I appreciate the friendly replies and no flames!

I will work to improve my research in the future 😀
