There have been numerous conversations here about blaming problems on SD cards. This guy did a bunch of testing of different cards and may be of interest.

I have never seen a card failure on any pi that uses microSD from pi3 and zero up to current pi5.

Tom ran a several year uptime test and never saw a failure either.  Check the group posts via search for many long threads,

Yep. Those are the numerous conversations that I referred to. I haven't had a failure in 5+ years either. Based on this data, I suspect it's low quality/counterfeit cards that caused problems for some folks.

I've had one failure, out of probably 5ish years of use, but I'm pretty sure it was my own fault...... It locked up hard and I pulled the power. But currently I run it off an SSD because I have a weather cam saving pictures and making daily time lapse videos.

I had several micro sd cards, which failed all the same type: They became locked read only. Two Samsung branded, so, I assume, it is not a problem of noname products, but something concerning wear levelling.
Fortunately all data were present, as the sd card is completely unerasable. Unfortunately, the failure is not detected immediately, as data were chached before writing for some hours and finally are lost.

Within five years i have lost three sd cards. All of them were used in Pi 4. All had the same kind of error, which results in a complete write protection. As long as the writing concerned logging into a virtual partition, it could not be detected. So it could take some hours until the failure was detected. Two were Samsung branded, one of them was a micro sd card, only one Intenseo. Fortunately, it was easy to copy the data onto a new sd card, as all data happen to be unerasably conserved. Unfortunately some data were lost.
I have now a PI5 with a SSD mounted. I do not trust in sd cards for long term usage any longer.

I had many problems with damaged storage media with RPi1, 2, 3, 4. Not all storage media had physical defects, but nevertheless the joy with the RPis was short-lived, whether SD cards, USB flash drives or SSds. Conclusion: I no longer use RPis.

the feedback i have seen often in the forum is that power glitches can corrupt the SD card, so always use UPS with RPi+SD

The time I had an SD card fail in the manner described, the problem
seemed to have been triggered by the SD card being completely filled up.
It was fireworks night, and I guess the fireball detector was triggered
a bit more often than usual, and the space that had been freed before
the night's run started was nowhere close to enough....

Other than power failures that corrupted the OS, I have only had problems with a low-end Lexar SD card that proved to be unsuitable for the purpose.  I agree that a UPS or battery backup of some sort (there are hats available) is a necessity.
