My heat index never works right

Vantage Pro 2. The heat index reports correctly on the console, but on both the standard skin and on BelcherTown I get the following:


Note how the heat index becomes the temperature at the same point that the humidity falls below 40%. Happened yesterday and again today. I’m having Weewx calculate the heat index in software now, and it failed the identical way when I was using the hardware.

Why is this? The heat index doesn’t step function to be the temperature in real life like that.

I tend to agree. Originally, the calculation was based on this chart, which is not valid below 40°F. But, there are other methods of calculating it.

Opened issue #601 to remind us. This is an easy task if someone wants to take it on.

And when it is fixed, I’ll have a solid reason to upgrade from 3.9.2. 8^)

What a great ‘experimental’ system, now in its 4th major release cycle. When will the experimental tag be coming off?
