Initially intended as an iteration of weewx-Weather34, I finally decided to start again from scratch as everything was becoming extremely bloated and much too complicated to install. This a complete re-write with nothing left of the original PHP which has now been completely discarded, leaner and meaner, a huge code reduction. Much more integrated into the WeeWX way of doing things including a prompted install using weectl extension install etc.....

Features
  • Compatible with WeeWX version 5.5.0 onwards and Python version 3.13.5 onwards. (Not tested with earlier versions).
  • Tested with Pip and Deb installs.
  • Fully prompted install process allowing user custom settings.
  • Realtime gauges and range gauges
  • Live (realtime) loop json data.
  • Live (realtime) almanac json data from Skyfield.
  • Astronomy section including Sean Balfour's visualisations.
  • Direct data injection of external weather data into WeeWX database (a kind of souped-up weewx-FilePile).
  • Unlike previous beta versions PHP code has been removed. HTML/JS Libraries/CSS only.
  • Ability to reorder dashboard cards locally in browser by drag and drop.
  • Switch between seven unit groups in real time (UK, US, Metric, Canadian, Scandinavian, Aviation, Beaufort).
  • 24/7 Statiion forecast.
  • 24/7 Alternative Locations forecasts.
  • Animated graphics.
  • Charts, heatmaps, gauges, card images all rendered using D3.
  • weewx.conf configurable weather APIs.
  • Toggle between themes - Auto (day and night - default), Light or Dark. The dark and light themes are inspired by John Kline's styling of his Celestial Live and Skyfield extensions.
  • Automatic timelapse video generation from webcam images.
  • Kiosk mode, 3 x 3 grid for displaying on tablet sized screens.

I've added this to

https://github.com/weewx/weewx/wiki

which attempts to list all extensions. This made me realize how many
there are, that weather34 is now unmaintained, and probably there are
others.

I have made an "unmaintained" section and moved weather34 there, as it
seems anyone not already running it should refrain from starting to.

I also moved some old French translations, as my understanding (with
faded high school French skills) is that weewx proper now has i18n/l10n
and one can just set locale to fr_FR, and thus these (out of date
anyway) translations are no longer needed.

Everyone should feel free to correct me if I'm confused about any of the
above or anything in the future. Sometimes I guess a little when it
seems on-balance helpful.
