MQTT Help Needed - please

Trying to set up MQTT using DigitalOcean via Pat's instructions. 

Add to the custom broker configuration and then am stuck here:

mosquitto -c /etc/mosquitto/mosquitto.conf

1635909704: Loading config file /etc/mosquitto/conf.d/myconfig.conf

[17890.738197]~DLT~ 5060~INFO     ~FIFO /tmp/dlt cannot be opened. Retrying later...

[17900.759250]~DLT~ 5060~WARNING  ~Lost log messages in user buffer when exiting: 6

[17900.759766]~DLT~ 5060~WARNING  ~NWTSegmented: Error while reading queue: Bad file descriptor

If anyone's seen this, please let me know what I'm doing wrong. I'm sure it's something silly.

We'd have to see your mosquitto.conf and myconfig.conf files.   Please 'attach' them to a reply rather than cutting and pasting the contents.  If you password-protected your setup, change the usernames/passwords if you have any in them of course before posting.

I see in Pat's instructions that you should be careful to not have spaces at end-of-line, so you might want to check for that first.

Yes, I double checked the spaces. I think I'm missing something fundamental but can't figure it out. 

I have attached screenshots of mosquitto.conf and myconfig.conf.

In case anyone stumbles on this in the future, fix the problem with:

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:mosquitto-dev/mosquitto-ppa 

sudo apt-get update

Only took me 3 weeks to figure it out! :) 

Onward....
