When I view my WU page I am getting either -- or nAn on the page. I have attached a screen shot

Looking at your WU page, it appears that your site is posting data only once every 15 minutes. So, the WU is blindingly adding null values for the missing 5 minute posts. Don't know why it does this.

In any case, later, starting at 0700 your site starts posting every 5 minutes. Did you change something?

To say anything more would require seeing your log.

I only changed the the required line for rapid fire to true.

Well, that's a pretty big change. This means WU is receiving data every 18 seconds (for an AcuRite Pro Weather Center), instead of 15 minutes.

(I'm assuming your archive interval is 15 minutes --- you didn't say.)

Hmm I did not adjust the archival how is that done.

We would have to see the log from when weewx starts up to be sure, but I don't think the AcuRite driver uses the onboard memory of this unit. In that case, the archive interval is set by options record_generation and archive_interval in weewx.conf.

Set

record_generation = software
archive_interval = 300

This should be the default but, again, we'd have to see the log to see what actually happened. Stop weewx, then start it again, post the first few minutes of the log.

I thought WU prefer either rapid fire, or archive interval, but not both.  Maybe the problem is being caused by WU receiving both streams.  Certainly I have never seen the issue you have, but then again I stopped using rapid fire as it seemed a bit pointless (to me anyway).

Thomas I will have to check this setting when I get home. But I believe you just answered my question. I did a search on their data update times so if I set this for 18 seconds which is their lowest update time of the 3 update times it should be good correct.

Hang on.

There is a difference between the LOOP packets and archive records.

The LOOP packets are emitted every 18 seconds. They are aggregated into archive records, which are emitted much less often, typically every 5 to 60 minutes.

The reason this matters is that the AcuRite emits "partial LOOP packets." Partial LOOP packets do not include all data types. Some may include only pressure, others only temperature, others wind. None include everything. However, they get aggregated into archive records by weewx, which include all the observation types. Why does this matter? Because the WU will reject posts that do not include all types. So, if you set the archive interval too short, say 30 seconds, weewx may not have had enough time to see all the different observation types.

Incidentally, Rapidfire suffers from the same problem. With Rapidfire, LOOP packets are being sent to the WU, so not all types are included in every packet.

Bottom line, unless you have an instrument that can emit full packets (such as the Davis series), you're better off not using Rapidfire and, instead, choosing software record generation with a reasonable archive interval . Five minutes works well.

I can download data off the display every 12 minutes to a cvs file is this where it gets the archival.

I will turn off rapid fire updates to see if that helps and adjust the archival down if needed.

As I said, we'd have to see the startup sequence of the log to be sure, but with your driver weewx should be generating the archive records in software, not getting them from the CSV file.

Okay when I get home from work I am gonna turn off rapid updates and then configure the archival times down if needed but I will do the adjustments slowly to find a good setting
