New to Raspberry Pi, new to weewx.

I just want to have my Ambient WS-2080 upload readings to Weather Underground via Raspberry Pi because I don't want to leave my "real" computer running 24/7 for this purpose.

I got the RP2, I got Raspbian on board, I got weewx on board and communicating with my WS console... it even sent data to Weather Underground briefly!  So I know nearly everything is right.

But I keep getting the unstable read: blocks differ, and I keep getting station status {'unknown', ... etc.

I also get rsyslogd-2007: action 'action 17' suspended, next retry is Mon Oct 12 20:44:27 2015 [try http://www.rsyslog.com/e/2007 ] once a minute.

I've tried editing the weewx.conf file, changing polling_mode to ADAPTIVE and back to PERIODIC and interval to 60.  Nothing seems to make it run smoothly.

When I plug into my laptop, though, with Cumulus running, immediately everything's fine and readings get uploaded to W.U. just fine.  But I want it to work on my RP!

I'm not a programmer at all, I'm pretty amazed I've gotten this far, so if you're going to give me suggestions, don't assume I know ANYthing.  Thanks very much.

that is not unusual, nor does it indicate any failure.  if blocks differ then the driver simply re-reads until it gets a stable read.

what do you mean by "it even sent data to Weather Underground briefly"?  why did you stop it?

what is your archive interval?  are you using record_generation=hardware or record_generation=software?

for best results with a fine offset station, use the settings described here:

https://github.com/weewx/weewx/wiki/FineOffset%20USB%20lockup

look in the 'use correct settings' section.

my guess is that your station is set to an archive interval of 30 minutes (the factory default), weewx sent data to wu while weewx did catchup during startup, then you did not wait 30 minutes until the next record.  am i right?

Thanks for your input!

I'll check the settings and the info you referenced, this evening.

You're right - I never let it run a full 30 minutes!  I just assumed with the unstable reads and station status unknown, it wasn't working.

Now, if I do allow it to run for a couple of hours, is it only going to update Weather Underground every 30 minutes?  I really hope to have it update closer to real-time, or at least every 5 minutes or so.  Every 30 minutes is not going to work for me.

the archive interval on the weather station to 5 minutes (300 seconds) if you want more regular WU updates.

Also I recommend reading the documentation to ensure you are using the best weewx settings for your station.
