Hello weewx users
Has anyone created a synopsis of creating a weewx site on Amazon Lightsail for my Vantage pro 2. I have been trying to get a direction for several days but am too unsure of all the variables. Mike Revitt posted a synopsis on AWS S3 located at
Is this what I need to do or is that different from Lightsail? I was told that Lightsail is best option.
There is also this discussion of cloudflare by Doug Jenkins using tunnels but Vince and others may question it's security :
I have built a network across a sugar cane field from my brothers house to our old unoccupied farm house (where the Vantage station is)  but am unsure of where to start with creating a web page so that I can see daily data.  I seem to have reached my limit at present. Presently using a pi4 with weewx.Your help is always appreciated.
Thank you

Rather than go back and forth too much here, I'll email you some info tomorrow.

You do not need Amazon Lightsail to host your weewx pages; while it's cheap (something less than $4/mo for a simple web server).
Instead you can just upload your html and image files to Amazon S3 (follow the link you suggested) and point a Cloudfront service to them, for like $0.11/mo (yes, 11 CENTS). S3 charges more for downloads, so heavy traffic sites cost more.
You can check out the AWS pricing calculator at https://calculator.aws

Oops on further inspection the tutorial on using S3 is not that secure; we can help find a better method. There's a better tutorial by AWS on github but it's pretty complicated: https://github.com/aws-samples/amazon-cloudfront-secure-static-site#user-content-amazon-cloudfront-secure-static-website

(asking for input from others here)

I'm writing up a clean howto for spinning up a minimal Lightsail instance to rsync weewx public_html to and at this point I have it all ready with the exception of still needing to https set up for the webserver.

My question for others like Doug/Mike/et.al. is what do you think nowadays is the best way to get somebody a simple/free https setup such a self-hosted VM ?  My ancient VM used certbox to add it, with me needing to manually set my Google Domains records and the like, which is perhaps a little complicated for lay persons.

Would front ending with Cloudflare be today's simplest way to get such a vanilla webserver enabled for https ?

Suggestions ?
