Vantage VUE (model_type 1 or 2 in weewx.config?)

I'm using a Vantage VUE, not a Pro2.  This is more of a curiosity than anything else.  I noticed that in weewx.conf under the [Vantage] section:

    # Vantage model Type: 1 = Vantage Pro; 2 = Vantage Pro2
    model_type = 2

    # The driver to use:
    driver = weewx.drivers.vantage

Is the model_type relevant with a Vantage VUE?  It appears to have defaulted to "2" years ago when I ran wee-config. I trust that is OK as it's working fine. Just wondering why the comment says to use a 1 for a Vantage Pro. I'm not sure if the 1 or 2 matters with  Vantage VUE.

model_type is used to distinguish between an original VantagePro (model_type=1), and a VantagePro 2 (model_type=2).

A VantageVue can be distinguished from the VP or VP2 by an EEPROM lookup. In that case, model_type is not used.

Thanks for the explanation, Tom.  That makes sense.
