Syntax Noaa reports not clear in documentation.

In the documentation the definition from the _AGO definities ar not consistent.
$month($months_ago=$m)  or $month(months_ago=$m)  with as difference of a $ before the months_ago. Same for day, years etc. , 

Please supply the correct sysntax.
