I am up updating weewx for Fedora Linux to match version 5.1.0. I notice that  weewx.conf-5.1.0 has no entry for WEEWX_ROOT, whereas my current weewx.conf (very old, probable version 4.10.1) sets
WEEWX_ROOT=/
Is it harmful to set WEEWX_ROOT=/ , or just unnecessary?

Have a read of the relevant section in the 5.1 docs. Unless you are special you really don't need it.

Thanks much. All is made clear.
