WS28xx - unattended service restarts

Using the WS28xx, after a restart of weewxd, I most often have to push the SET-button on the console to sync the console and transceiver.

Reading the docs of the driver, I am not sure, what happens, if I don't push the SET-button and wait for the next full hour: will the devices then sync, and behave just like when pushing the SET-button, or will it receive the next value after another hour?

Is there any other way to get the devices synchronized immediately, other than attaching a remote control to the SET-button?
