I have (a long time ago) modified a WS2300 sensor transmitter to give frequent wireless update (every 8 seconds).
The mod 'tricks' the transmitter into thinking a wired console is connected and makes it transmit every 8 seconds, which is a useful update period.
It does make it use a little more battery power and their life will be shorter, but maybe a small solar panel and re-chargeable batteries will eliminate the need to change batteries every 3 months or so.
You could do the mod to the transmitter and then capture and decode the radio signal (I did get it going, but have lost the info I used).
In fact, my modified WS2300 is running here (it is not cabled, but is using the console to capture and provide the sensor data every 8 seconds)
Anyway, try the frequent wireless mod (be careful as the original mod was incorrect on where to solder one of the capacitors - Google it to double check).
Decoding the wireless signal (this was one of the first to do it, but I did get it running straight into a PC - Google will be your friend here).
Good luck and an interesting project, keep us informed how you get on...
Nigel.
