NOTE: This is a development branch build with limited testing, and may well break things. You have been warned!

Tom asked me to test the development branch of WeeWX, so I spent some time working out how to successfully build a WeeWX Debian package and after putting all that effort in I thought I'd also open it up for people to give feedback on newer versions too.

I've setup a Debian repository to distribute from, I added an index page to outline the steps needed to install the development branch Debian package here:

If you don't want yet another source.list.d/ file on your system that's ok too, apt just won't automatically update WeeWX when there is a newer version. The current package can be found here:

The package was created today from Tom's development branch on a Debian Bookworm server, I have no idea if it will work on earlier versions like Buster, but it might be a good time to upgrade if you haven't now that Bookworm has been downgraded to oldstable.

It should work fine on Trixie, and even other distributions based on Debian, let me if there is a problem with the Debian package, or Tom if there's a WeeWX issue via the usual channels.

Just thought I'd point out a couple of things to note for those that have downloaded and installed the dev branch version... If you chose to not replace the weewx.cong during install, you need to update the schema location in your weewx.conf from:
schema = schemas.wview_extended.schema
to:
schema = weewx.schemas.wview_extended.schema

and if uploading to the WOW-BE service the stanza is now WOW-BE and no longer WOWBE

I also just built a new deb package against the dev branch, that includes a change in restx.py for WOW-BE to hopefully fix pressure readings.

If you setup apt to install it, an apt update; apt upgrade should pull it down and install it, otherwise download a fresh copy and install with dpkg:
