Changes to skins/Seasons files has no effect on images created

I went from 4.9.1 with several changes to skin.conf, index.html.tmpl, radar.inc, titlebar.inc; several others including the weekly, monthly and yearly, and while my changes worked fine in 4.9.1 now with 5.2 I can't get them to have any effect on the files written to the /var/www/html/weewx where nginx gets them. Yes I've tried deleting all .png and .html in that dir and waiting for the next cycle, but for some reason it isn't working. I'm sure it's something I've overlooked, I also cleared the cache on browsers and restarted nginx and weewx, to no avail. At this point I'm getting ready to mv the entire /skins to some place and "okay let's see how you deal with this, weewx", but before I shotgun experiement, I'm hoping someone knows something I don't about why this is happening. Yes weewx.conf has only Seasons enabled.

Aw never mind, after running debug=1 I found it was reading skin files from /etc/weewx/skins/Seasons, where it installed the skins. So why did it install skins in /home/weewx/skins? That's where I copied my modified files. All working now.
