Changed behavior of ArchiveTable.get_series

In WeeWX 4.10 ArchiveTable.get_series filtered all None values from the result.

In WeeWX 5.0 ArchiveTable.get_series also None values are returned.

Is there some documentation or discussion about the reasons for that change, that I could read?
