Hello. My name is Janie Carlisle and my vocation is Information Technology BI Specialist. I use specialized software to pull data from multiple sources - transactional databases, spreadsheets, social media, the Internet - to create visualizations for an executive dashboard or drill-down data for analysts to do their jobs. The reporting can be rearview reporting or analytics for predictive/planning analysis. To be successful in my vocation, one must be really good in research, in pulling information from various places and recognizing the link or connection between that data and your project. One must also be skilled in statistics, multiple software packages and excellent analysis skills.
In using my skills for Rotary, I regularly search the Internet and various social networking sites to glean information relevant to an issue or project my Club or District may be dealing with at the time. I also use my skills when reviewing resumes/applications for our Golden Tool Award to assign objective methodology and points for evaluating the applicants. I exemplify the ideals of Rotary in my job by exhibiting integrity and respect in all of my relationships and work. I utilize the 4-way test and have it posted in large writing on the whiteboard in my office. If it isn't true, fair, build goodwill and is beneficial to all concerned, it is not part of my working relationships or my ways of working.
What is your vocation? How do you use your vocation to benefit Rotary? How do you use Rotary to benefit your job/work relationship?
