This week we are looking at New Generations and posting a portion of our District Governor's monthly message on Energizing Your Club. This portion focuses on the New Generations Avenue of Service.
"Last month, we celebrated our commitment to young people through Interact, Rotaract, RYLA, and Rotary Youth Exchange, Rotary’s Fifth Avenue of Service or New Generations. This commitment should be year round as we seek ways to energize and strengthen our clubs. Here are five questions your Rotary club can ask about service to youth and young adults:
• How can your district involve young people who are past participants of Rotary’s New Generations programs?
• How can your Rotary Club involve Interactors, Youth Exchange students and RYLA alums in your club activities?
• Which of your sponsored Rotaract or Interact clubs will be eligible to earn a 2012-13 Presidential Citation?
• How will your club celebrate the 50th anniversary of Interact during the week of November 5th?
• How does being involved in youth programs help your club to become a vital, energized organization?
New Generations programs can engage your current members and develop young people into future Rotarians. I visited the Dalton Club during the summer and saw firsthand how the club’s engagement with its Interact Club is the engine that keeps its members involved not only with the Interactors, but with projects in the community."
