Chess camps are open to any interested child, including complete
beginners. My kids always enjoyed chess camp and Andrew even started
before Kindergarten. Also highly recommended for kids who want to
improve their level of competitive play.
Here are some options:
Elena Donaldson's Camps:
These are reasonably priced and usually located at local elementary
schools, so the recess periods are fun for the kids. Plus Josh
Sinanan, our coach from last year, teaches in some of these and I'm
sure would enjoy seeing some Wedgwood kids. Probably will not be an
issue, but be proactive to make sure your child ends up in the
appropriate group, our kids are fairly advanced for their age compared
to most other schools.

Chess4Life camps:
Solid instruction, but does require crossing the 520 bridge and is
located in a business park, so recess time is not as fun as it could
be..

***Bryant Chess Camp***
Chess4Life does offer a chess camp at Bryant Elementary Aug 17-21,
which is perfect for our kids!

Evergreen Chess Camps:
Evergreen camps cost a bit more, but are well run, in a nice facility,
and focused on specific ability levels. The advanced or super-
advanced camps would be suitable for kids in the Enthusiast class,
while kids in the Rec and Short courses may prefer the Intermediate
camp. There is also a bughouse camp...

There are also a smattering of other chess camps around, but these are
the main options. The chess camps are definitely worth attending,
imho...
