If you want to use Office 2016 on your PC, you may need to choose between the 64-bit or 32-bit version of Office. In this article, we will show you how to download and install the 32-bit version of Office 2016, which may be suitable for you if you have a 32-bit version of Windows or if you have specific compatibility needs with some add-ins or applications.
To download Office 2016, you need to have a Microsoft account and a valid product key. Follow these steps to sign in and download Office:
After you download the setup file, depending on your browser, select Run (in Edge or Internet Explorer), Setup (in Chrome), or Save File (in Firefox). If you see the User Account Control prompt that says, Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device? select Yes. The installation will begin.
Your installation is finished when you see the phrase, "You're all set! Office is installed now" and an animation plays to show you where to find Office applications on your computer. Select Close.
To activate Office 2016, start using an application right away by opening any app such as Word or Excel. In most cases, Office is activated once you start an application and after you agree to the License terms by selecting Accept.
Office might activate automatically. However, depending on your product you might see the Microsoft Office Activation Wizard. If so, follow the prompts to activate Office.
If you encounter any issues during the download, installation, or activation of Office 2016, see Troubleshoot installing Office for more help.
