Role- Senior Software Engineer / Lead Engineer – Legacy Modernization & Agentic AI (AWS)

Job Description :

We are looking for experienced Software Engineers to support a large-scale Legacy Modernization initiative. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in AWS cloud technologies, a solid understanding of legacy mainframe applications, and experience building AI-powered agentic workflows. This role involves modernizing mission-critical systems, leveraging cloud-native architectures, and enabling intelligent automation through AI agents.

We are looking for Engineers, having deep database modernization expertise, particularly around legacy mainframe databases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze, understand, and modernize legacy mainframe applications built on COBOL, IMS, and DB2.
  • Design and implement cloud-native solutions on AWS as part of modernization and migration initiatives.
  • Develop and deploy Agentic AI workflows that automate business processes, code modernization, analysis, and operational tasks.
  • Build scalable APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures to replace legacy workloads.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, database teams, and platform engineers to define modernization strategies.
  • Perform application decomposition, dependency analysis, and migration planning.
  • Implement best practices around security, observability, resiliency, and performance optimization on AWS.
  • Support data migration, schema transformation, and modernization of legacy database platforms.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, and technical design discussions.

Required Skills & Experience

Core Skills

  • 6+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS Cloud Services (Lambda, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, Step Functions, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, CloudFormation/Terraform, etc.).
  • Experience working with Legacy Mainframe Applications.
  • Good understanding of: 
    • COBOL
    • IMS
    • DB2
    • Batch Processing Systems
    • Mainframe Integration Patterns
  • Experience designing and developing Agentic AI workflows, autonomous agents, and AI-driven automation solutions.
  • Strong programming experience in one or more modern languages such as: 
    • Python
    • Java
    • Node.js
  • Experience with Microservices and API-based architectures.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps, and Infrastructure as Code practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with application modernization and cloud migration programs.
  • Knowledge of Generative AI platforms, LLMs, RAG architectures, orchestration frameworks (LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, LangChain, etc.).
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with event-driven and serverless architectures.
  • Prior experience in financial services, insurance, or other enterprises running large-scale mainframe workloads.

Database Modernization Specialist

One of the selected engineers should have strong expertise in:

  • DB2 Database Architecture and Administration.
  • Data Modeling and Database Design.
  • Database Migration and Modernization Strategies.
  • Legacy-to-Cloud Database Transformation.
  • Data Quality, Data Reconciliation, and Validation.
  • AWS Database Services (Aurora, RDS, DynamoDB, Redshift).
  • Performance Tuning and Query Optimization.
  • Data Integration and ETL/ELT pipelines.
