Job Description

We are seeking an experienced COBOL Developer to join our team in Irvine, CA. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in COBOL, Unix/Linux, and SQL with experience supporting and enhancing enterprise applications. This role involves application development, maintenance, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Required Skills

• 6+ years of experience in COBOL application development.
• Strong hands-on experience with Unix/Linux environments and shell scripting.
• Proficiency in SQL (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or similar databases).
• Experience in application maintenance, debugging, and performance tuning.
• Ability to analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Experience with batch processing and file handling.
• Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with CICS or IMS is a plus.
• Exposure to version control tools such as Git.
• Knowledge of financial, insurance, or healthcare domains is preferred.
• Experience with job scheduling tools such as Control-M or Autosys is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and maintain COBOL applications.
• Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database interactions.
• Perform code reviews, debugging, and issue resolution.
• Support production applications and troubleshoot incidents.
• Collaborate with business analysts, QA, and development teams.
• Prepare technical documentation and participate in system testing.
• Ensure application performance, reliability, and compliance with coding standards.
