I'm re-posting this issue, just in case someone else here in the community can possily shed some light... he told me in a reply that sonic.exe does exist on his machine at the "C:\Documents and Settings\....\" path. I'm currently at a loss on this one but would really like to figure it out so he can generate. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi
I have just joined the community and the features seem to be great and Xciting. Well i was able to install the WidgetryDataService and created the dataconnection and provider but get and error when i hit the magical "Generate" button. There pops a command window saying :

WebWidgetry Path: "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\NthPengu
in\WebWidgetry"
Config Path: "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\TESTWEB\web.config
"
Generated Path: "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\TESTWEB\App_Cod
e\Generated"
Running SubSonic...
'sonic.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
Press any key to continue . . .

No luck after that, I hope you can help

Regards,

Well, it does help actually, just in the sense that it's reproduceable...

I've put it into our bug hunting list... I'll post back here once we figure it out.

Ugh... bugs. We'll squash em - just takes a bit of time.

Hey guys,

Can you try something for me? In your environment variables, add this to the "PATH" variable:

"c:\[my documents]\NthPenguin\WebWidgetry"

where [my documents] points to your my docs folder.

I'm curious if it's just a weird issue with how the batch file is looking for the current directory.

Hi Jerod,

I added the path to the PATH... the "not recognized" error is gone.

But there is a new one, a few times:
#####
...
Can't set the configuration for the providers. There is an error with
your config
setup (did you remember to configure SubSonic in your config file?).
'ConnectionStrings
section missing connection string with the name 'csFCConnectionString'
...
There's a problem with the providers - none were loaded and no
exceptions where thrown.
...
#####

"csFCConnectionString" is the right name...

Is this a "follow up" error or something new?

Regards,
Bjoern Horst

OK! My failure!!! It wasn't the same name!!! Sorry! The generate
button now generates code...

Adding the path to the PATH variable ist the solution for the "not
recognized" error...

Thank you for your help...

Great!

Now... we have to add that into our installer. The odd thing is that this only seems to happen on a small number of machine.

Good find Jerod!
